Our Technology

Dr. Whitman has made enormous investments in the latest technology to offer the highest possible level of care to our patients in Casper and central Wyoming. Let’s look at the equipment and what Dr. Whitman uses it for to protect your eye health and vision for  lifetime.

One of the most exciting new additions to our practice has been the Eidon retinal camera. The retina is the light sensitive film at the back of the eye and subject to a large variety of disease states that can put vision at risk. The retina can also gives clues about systemic diseases from diabetes to hypertension and many more. It enables us to monitor the health of the eye and track eye conditions for progression. (The images are from patients we have seen in our office)

This year we added an Optovue OCT unit to our practice stable. This machine functions like an MRI of the eye and allows us to look at cross sections of the eye to detect and monitor eye diseases such as diabetic macular edema and glaucoma. It is very exciting to have a machine of this caliber in our office.

The Humphrey visual field machine is a work horse for managing glaucoma and neurologic disease. Adding this to our practice has made it possible for us to diagnose and manage a variety of complex conditions.

The Zeiss 995 corneal topographer allows us to make a topographic map of the front surface of the eye. The allows us to detect and manage diseases like keratoconus and perform complex custom contact lens fits.
