Continuing medical education is critically important. Our profession as eye care providers is constantly changing, in fact change is really the only certainty. I will be attending the winter meeting of our state professional association at the end of the month. The theme of our education will be increasing our knowledge of contact lens-related issues and technological advances.
It may sound boring, but contact lenses are a critically important component of vision correction for millions of patients in our offices. The rapidly changing technology that we see in this field is making lenses safer and more comfortable. It is vitally important to stay up to date. We will be discussing the latest innovations in contact lenses, prescribing custom lenses so that we can help patients who may not have been able to wear contact lenses for a variety of reasons in the past, and of course there will be discussions of prescribing contact lenses for patients who are beyond their 40’s and struggling with near vision complaints.
I’m looking forward to integrating this new knowledge into my clinical practice and enhancing the level of care I provide to my patients.
